1. Cabin Fever
I’m a private person simply content with my quiet life.
But even for me I start feeling irritated with the fact that this pandemic doesn’t look to end in a short time.
It's a stark difference between voluntary seclusion and enforced ones obviously.
Eddie gets extreme ichy feet for a hike.
Suze yearns for a family trip to anywhere.
So we decided to get away for a weekend for the first time since Overland hike.
Honestly I felt worried to be away from home, away from safe and clean zone.
However it happened despite all.
And it was such a refreshing trip.
2. TGIF
It always seemed to me that at night Australian motor way was ominously darker with fewer cars and harshier with other seemingly recklessly speedy cars around you.
There was no dim lights from nearby cities or towns at all.
It's like passing through thick and heavy foggy zones without knowing when it was going to clear.
Now our standard for accomodation is changed to be an independent place due to the circumstances.
So we chose a 3 bed room house in a quiet residential area.
It was an ancient house with too many unnecessary sorts of things they randomly put here and there but they sensibly renovated essentials like kitchen and bathroom with fairly new modern amenities.
Suze instantly loved its garden and spacious decks which were wrapping around its main part of building cosily.
There were hammocks and out shower etc...
Friday was already gone but we would have one complete day for us if you travelled on Friday night.
3. Spring is at the corner.
We didn’t have any mission to complete as this trip was a leisurely one.
We had a chance to see the sun rise at Bennett Beach on Saturday.
Afterwards I prepared breakfast and Eddie made coffee.
Home made breakfast was as always satiated.
Suze was doing vigourous morning cardio exercise which shook fragile wooden frames and pannells inside the house and after she finished I did my slow paced streching work out too.
I missed my yoga mat and bands but managed it ok.
This old house had a small but charming backyard hidden from outside so we enjoyed morning out there feeling pleasant warmth from sun.
Winter’s showing its back to us already without knowing it.
For the first time I realized I didn’t look forward to warmer weathers in my life.
I of course welcome warm and balmy days.
I must have been preoccupied with this pandemic.
After lunch we went to Dark Point in Hawk’s Nest.
We walked on the sand dunes with bare feet under the mild and warm afternoon sun feeling the absolutely pleasant and cool wind from the ocean.
Such a nice day we had even though we didn’t do much whole day.
That’s what this trip was about in fact.
4. Highlight
Sunday morning I woke up at 5 am enthusiastically for a morning hike to Yacaaba Head which was definitely my highlight of this trip.
We drove to a most easterly part of Bennett Beach as far as possily accesible by car.
It was still dark outside so both of Eddie and me had head torches on.
As soon as we were on the sands I was instantly struck with the view.
Still dark ocean had red colored thick bands over it showing early stage of sun rise ceremony.
The strong constrast of black and red hit me off guard.
There was no hint of coldness at all this morning and even stars over your head sparkled ever so brillitantly.
I extremely loved those moments.
We walked on the sand relying on torch lights and realized still had a long way to reach at the end of the beach where we could climb up to Yacaaba Head.
I tried to jog on and off trying to catch up to Eddie.
Lightly running on sand was not easy but it could have given me a different kind of stimulus in my leg muscles I was sure.
We climbed up to the top silently but expectantly enjoying the most quiet time and space in the world.
Last part of climbing was quite steeper than my memory and I loved it.
Like we knew there was no proper open spot on top to capure the non-restrictive view of sun rise as it was blocked by trees which was a real shame.
5. Mission fulfilled
We headed home straight after we visited a wild part of endlessly spread coast lines in Mungo Brush.
Waves were dancing under the warm and beautiful sun showing off its best ever emerald color.
As if trying to share its joys and happiness with us.
We didn't do much for this trip but we felt refreshed and very much recharged.
That's why we needed to change scenery time to time without particular reason.
