On the 23rd of November 2021, we did this legendary hike for the third time and it took almost 7 hours.
It was Suze’s birthday.
We initially wanted to do a relatively easier and shorter track that day but it was the only day we’d had to do this long hike properly in terms of weather.
After hike we celebrated her precious birthday with baloons, banner, birthday cake etc...
Seaweed soup and a hearty toast sitting around the fire were indispensable ingredients too after dinner.
A National Park ranger came to talk to us giving some information regarding the track and we learned that several parts of track were covered with thick snow.
We didn’t realize what he really meant until we came across the track later on.
OMG
Lucky three of us all had walking sticks otherwise it would be much harder.
This Kosciuzko National Park had unique features of alpine area with vegetaions,rock formations , various wild flowers and numerous lakes.
But this time it’s mostly covered by thick snow.
Silly me I forgot to pack my hat again and borrowed one from Suze.(I assumed she packed a couple….)
She didn’t wear a hat instead she confidently wore sunblock cream decently.
It would have been ok with other tracks and shorter distance.
But both of us later on suffered severe(?) skin burns partially from unexpectedly strong uv radiation which was mostly from snow.
We should have worn sunglasses for our eyes too.
