In her terms Suze has become an official Arts and Law graduate today.
Monday the 14th of May 2018.
She flew here for this event 2 days ago from Hawaii.
Before she went for Hawaii she literally harassed administration people in university to let her know
at least which week in May her graduation would be.
Their unwavering answer was the same the whole time.
That they would inform her of a window of week one month before.
Why?
Well, that is the way as it is, believe it or not.
However her untiring questionings on the official Face Book made them give her an exact date not the week finally.
So we were able to plan and book a family trip as a celebration for her graduation in January
before she left for Hawaii.
Not to mention she was able to be more organized in her life as well.
She ordered her graduation dress on line from there and I was waiting for her parcel.
She got an email message on Wednesday last week that it delivered home safely.
She thought we got it but in fact it didn't arrive.
There was no note in our mail box either.
Coincidentally it was weekends when Post Office closed and Suze came back home
so we couldn't contact Post Office for this matter.
And the ceremony was on Monday.
We had two options.
One just let her wear any dress of hers.
Two another last minute shopping for her graduation costume.
She kept saying she was ok with any dress but she couldn't delete disappointment nor frustration on her face.
Eddie declared its her once in a life time event so we had to find out a suitable one.
Finally they found a better elegant white dress while I was in hairdressers.
Luckily we got her OK shoes matching her dress as well and we were relieved that she was finally ready
at the end of Sunday.
At night my lovely colleague brought her a big gorgeous bouquet with her husband and son.
I felt really appreciative of them.
Three of us took the train to her university early morning around 8:30am.
It was a chilly and cloudy morning and we were somewhat nervous and excited.
On arrival at her campus Eddie realized he forgot his memory card in his camera.
Oh no not again!
I couldn't believe this!
Soon the ceremony started.
She was gorgeous in her violet coloured hood of long black gown.
Her magnificent figure and white dress was hidden under the gown (wrapped in a bulky gown)
nonetheless her beauty was much more emphasized on the contrary.
It was with stark contrast that some carelessly mal-clothed people with unsuitable long pants of wrong colours
which was way longer than the gown or with blunt ugly sneakers didn't look so great on the glorious day.
I'm not the kind of person believing wearing a good and expensive dress shows your real identity.
However this is the day you are celebrating your 5 or 6 years or even more time of efforts
with your loved ones before you fly into the big world.
So at least I believe you shouldn't be wearing too carelessly as if it's nothing meaningful to you
in your life.
Graduates were seated in right side rows from isle and guests in the left.
Law degree graduates seated in front followed by approximately two thirds of all participants
as yellow colour hooded Science degree graduates for 10:30 am session.
I assumed graduation ceremony performed 3 times a day perfunctorily with normal daily
studies or routines of non-graduates happening at the same time.
I had been distracted with all sorts of preparations but finally
I had a moment of being overwhelmed with this big event.
She grew up to be an intellectual, intelligent, sensible, mature minded and beautiful girl
and it was her day.
I am very much proud of her being herself, completing all her studies with excellent results.
It was a mundane ritual as always except the moment her name was called and she walked on
to the platform to get her studies acknowledged formally.
It was a glorious and emotional moment for three of us.
Eddie ran out to buy a new card straight after the ceremony.
We were waiting for him to come back but it took longer than we expected.
So we went out to sunshine to capture any good photo of hers while we were waiting for him.
With my bad eyesight and lack of experience and skills I was not very motivated but soon we were having fun
enjoying the moments with a lot of people around us in infectious celebrating mood.
Eddie finally came back and he managed to take as many good photos as possible to my huge delight and relief.
She got a full refund for her missing dress from the company and found out from Post Office that
it was delivered in our mail box but it was taken by someone.
It was a blessing in disguise in fact as she was much happier with the latter dress with the full refund eventually.
Reminiscently she kept on saying who stole my dress from the mail box?
First from anger and frustration later a little bit more like a joke....
